Weekly Update: April 27- May 3

Goals:
1. Explore potential wheelchair donations from the Long Beach Veteran's Administration Hospital and other local hospitals
2. Determine approximate gear ratio, gear separation, and lever arm length based upon wheelchair dimensions

Goals Met:
1. A wheelchair was purchased for $15 dollars from a garage sale. This wheelchair is not as wide as the previous wheelchair used for dimensions. This does not affect previous research or design plans.

2. Lever arm length: 25 inches
Gear Ratio: 2:1 ratio, about 52:26 tooth ratio
Approximate Gear Separation: 9 inches
Approximate chain length: 38-39 inches

It was determined that bike industry standard chain and sprockets will be ideal for construction of the mechanism.
All values are approximate dimensions and are subject to change as seen fit by team members or design/manufacture restrictions.

Goals For May 4- May 10
1. Solidworks rendering of the mechanism with approximate lengths and geometry
2. Prepare presentation for concept design review
3. Prepare Concept Design Review Report
4. Research possible attachment methods for the mechanism
